Mobilising the equipment - SBP
Mobilisation with hydraulic power pack
-
Calibrate the pressuremeter for
-
Arm sensitivity – see Calibrating an arm - SBP.
-
Pressure Cell sensitivity – see Calibrating the pressure cells - SBP.
-
Membrane correction for stiffness and modulus – see Carrying out a membrane correction test - SBP.
-
Membrane compression – see Carrying out a membrane compression test - SBP.
-
-
Consider in addition whether the instrument should be checked for straightness (see Checking the instrument for straightness), for deformation behaviour and for lift-off characteristics – see Checking the Lift-Off performance of the arms.
-
Use the full electronics and pneumatic system to carry out the calibrations in order that all parts of the system are checked.
-
If the desiccators on the Strain Control Unit or Electronic Interface Unit show pink then dry them out.
-
Ensure that the 12 volt batteries are in good order and are charged.
-
Check that the gas bottle is full.
-
Clean, grease, count and pack the RW rods and lengths of 2" casing – make sure that the RW rods are not blocked.
-
Clean the Hydraulic Rams, grease the gate and bolts.
-
Empty and clean the tool boxes and tools.
-
Cutter Drive Unit:- Check for oil leaks, check the oil level, make sure that the clamping bolts are clean and oiled.
-
Grease the Water Swivel and increase the clamping force on the packing material until attempting to rotate the swivel meets with a small amount of resistance.
-
Hydraulic Power Pack – Check engine oil, fuel and hydraulic level in reservoir.
-
Assemble the hydraulic system. Place the input and output of the water pump in a tank of water. Run the engine, water pump, rams and cutter drive unit. Check for leaks and that all controls are moving smoothly.
-
Clean, dismantle and grease the Ball Foot Clamp.
-
Pack the equipment, checking off items against the packing list. See Packing list for site - SBP.
